🎯 Position Mission

Under the supervision of the HR & Administration Director, the Human Resources Assistant plays a key role in coordinating the administrative tasks of the HR department. They also support the development of efficient processes related to personnel management (leave, insurance, payroll, etc.) while contributing to embedding spiritual values into the organizational culture.

📋 Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly payroll
  • Ensure INSS declarations are completed
  • Manage health insurance files and reimbursements
  • Organize onboarding and offboarding of staff
  • Track annual leave, sick leave, and other absences
  • File and follow up on timesheets
  • Draft HR administrative correspondence
  • Contribute to recruitment processes
  • Help coordinate internal training sessions
  • Support annual departmental planning
  • Propose process improvement recommendations
  • Participate in team meetings and devotions
  • Carry out other tasks as assigned by the HR & Admin Director

👤 Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or a related field
  • Proficient in French, Kirundi, and English
  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • High level of confidentiality, integrity, and attention to detail

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Listening, Monitoring & Evaluation Officer to join our Operations team. This role plays a vital part in tracking our progress, learning from our clients, and ensuring that our services continue to meet their real needs.

Your Mission

You will be responsible for designing and conducting surveys, analyzing data, leading qualitative research, facilitating learning across the organization, and managing mechanisms for client complaint resolution. Ultimately, you will measure how well Turame is fulfilling its mission and support continuous improvement through data-driven insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Survey Implementation: Design, contextualize, and administer field surveys; analyze and report findings using tools such as SurveyCTO and Microsoft Excel.

  • Qualitative Research: Conduct focus groups and in-depth interviews; develop qualitative tools tailored to local contexts.

  • Data Analysis & Learning: Ensure data quality, generate actionable insights, and support knowledge sharing within Turame and with external stakeholders.

  • Product & Market Research: Evaluate existing products and contribute to new product development; monitor microfinance sector trends and assess expansion opportunities.

  • Client Complaint Management: Develop and oversee the implementation of client complaint mechanisms; ensure timely reporting to the Central Bank.

  • Spiritual Integration: Support the Christian values and devotions that guide our mission and staff culture.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Studies, Economics, Finance, Sociology, or related field.

  • At least 2 years of experience in development work, M&E, or a related field.

  • Solid skills in survey design, data collection, and qualitative research.

  • Strong command of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and data collection platforms.

  • Fluent in French, English, and Swahili (spoken and written).

  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and written communication skills.

JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Chief Accountant, the Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate accounting records for the branch or headquarters, including both general and analytical accounting. He/she adheres to Turame Community Finance’s financial and administrative procedures as well as current Burundian legislation.

An annual performance agreement will be signed at the beginning of the year between the accountant and the supervisor, outlining annual deliverables and objectives.


RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Accounting Management

The Accountant will perform various accounting tasks:

1. Reconciliation Officer:

Responsible for bank, MoMo, and other account reconciliations.

  • Regularly verify and analyze account balances, including cash and bank reconciliations

  • Maintain communication with banks

  • Perform monthly closings

  • Maintain asset and inventory registers

  • Daily follow-up of credit and savings account balances comparing the General Ledger with client subsidiary ledgers (GL = MIS)

  • Manage external loans

  • Reconcile other balance sheet accounts not listed in detail

2. Records Keeper Accountant:

Responsible for archiving

  • Record all accounting transactions of the branch or headquarters in the system

  • Code and record supporting documents (invoices, cash slips, bank slips, various operations)

  • Verify the reliability, accuracy, and regularity of accounting documents

  • File documents according to the established filing system

3. Accounts Payable and Staff Accountant:

Handles account entries and reconciles advances and supplier invoices

  • Post salaries, employee social contributions, etc.

  • Enter invoices and advances; follow up on approvals in the accounting software (currently NETSUITE)

  • Monthly preparation of accounts payable and receivable reports

  • Follow up on staff advance transactions and approval workflow

  • Reconcile staff advance accounts

4. Treasury Accountant:

Supports the following activities:

  • Budget management

  • Cash management aligned with operational needs of the branch


B. Participate in Internal Controls

  1. Apply the institution’s financial and administrative procedures

  2. Conduct regular and unannounced cash controls

  3. Ensure proper filing of supporting documents for unexpected, regular, partner, and internal audits

  4. Contribute to the improvement of internal control procedures


C. Participate in Institutional Life

  1. Attend weekly/staff meetings

  2. Participate in quarterly and annual planning workshops

  3. Support other team members when needed

  4. Participate in team devotions and encourage spiritual growth

  5. Refer to the spiritual integration committee and handbook to promote Christian values within the team

  6. Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor in line with the institution’s mission


QUALIFICATIONS

Fully committed to the Mission, Method, and Motivation of Turame Community Finance

  • Proficient in accounting software

  • Knowledge of internal control procedures

  • Ability to assess the legitimacy and accuracy of documents

  • Team player, discrete, well-organized, and detail-oriented

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Management, Administration, or equivalent

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in accounting or similar role in a financial institution

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency in French and Kirundi (required); English is a plus

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • High integrity and flexibility

  • Attention to detail, ability to multitask, and meet deadlines
